"If you put limits on what you can achieve, mental, physical or anything, you might as well be dead. It will spread over into your training, your work and your entire being. There are no limits to what the human body can achieve, only plateaux. But you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you"   Bruce Lee

What is Wing Chun?

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a practical and efficient martial art system that is known for it's quick hand speed, agile footwork and it's simultaneous defence and attack. It specialises in its unique understanding of body mechanics, angles and sensitivity to overcome aggression, rather than pit strength against strength; this makes the art accessible to anyone, regardless of size, age or gender.

The effectiveness of the art is also largely due to the fact that it teaches the principles for efficient fighting, rather than giving a 'paint by numbers' approach to learning.

Wing Chun Kung Fu is simple and easy to learn, enabling a good standard to be achieved within a relatively short period of time, although, as with any true art, practical ability is only the beginning; there is always room for deeper exploration and further development.

The system comprises only three empty hand forms (Siu Nim Tao, Chaam Kiu and Biu Ji), a dummy form (Mok Yan Jong) and two weapon forms (Luk Dim Bun Kwun and Baat Chaam Do).

Whilst learning the above forms, numerous training methods are given to the student which are worked on with a partner. These develop the required body structure, positioning, angles, reflexes and energies; the exercises will generally increase with intensity as the student progresses through the system. A key element to the learning of the Wing Chun system is a unique method, known as 'Chi Sau', in which the students sensitivity is developed to a very high standard. Chi Sau training teaches how to apply the above concepts in a reflexive, unrehearsed manner.
